ARTIFICE is a full length psychological thriller, written by Steven Doxey, Brandon Sean Pearson & Michael Doxey, that follows an actor who is cast as the lead in a bold, art-house film from a well known director. The Director’s film recreates the story of his father, who was captured and locked in a Siberian prison. For the actor's process to portray the director’s father, he goes method; following the footsteps of his favorite actors. He isolates himself in a remote cabin, where he pores over script pages and keeps a diary of his thoughts. He lives in the skin of his character, he eats, sleeps, even begins to think like him. The pressure to play the role truthfully is increased ten-fold by the Director’s militant perfectionism. Day by day, the actor begins to slowly transform into something out of his control. This metamorphosis has serious ramifications both on and off-set.

A documentary filmmaker invites his wife, Kate, and his producer, Adam, who have been  having an affair, to accompany him on his latest project in the Alaskan wilderness. As secrets of the affair come to light, Simon fakes his death and leaves his wife and his best friend completely isolated and hopelessly disconnected from civilization. Simon's plan now in motion, he sets his camera and documents the couple’s struggle to survive.

Battered, lost, and hungry, Kate and Adam eventually resign to their fate. When all hope seems lost, a withered man, Jonah, provides them with food and shelter. To the tired couple, Jonah seemed godsend. But the religious zealot with a dark past has no intention of helping. After discoveringKate is pregnant with her lover's child, Jonah kidnaps the woman leaving Adam stranded. The weeks pass with Kate held hostage in Jonah's cabin and Simon's camera capturing Adam's descent into madness. The paths of the sadistic filmmaker, the mad zealot, the traitor and lover, and the pregnant mother eventually converge. The inevitable confrontation changes their lives forever.

Deep within the rugged snow-capped mountains of the wild American West lay the town of Prosperity. And Warren Hill, who owned most of the lands and mines, dreamed of an ever-growing empire that rivaled Carnegie’s or Vanderbilt’s.

Then IT came. It. The creature. The beast. The unnatural, monstrous thing that slaughtered the town’s folk as one slaughters game for a Thanksgiving feast. And they were the lucky ones.

Others were spared. If those touched by the creature could truly be reckoned among the spared. For they may look like men, and they may sound like men; but men, they no longer were. Once one is touched by the beast, one becomes the beast. The town’s people – what few of them remained- fell into despair. Everyone is suspect, and none could be trusted. And as sisters turned on brothers and sons against mothers, a question lingered in their minds. Can any of us survive?
